CoPilot is having fun with the blog header images and I’m getting a kick out of them for sure. When they flash up on the main page of the website, my question is what do other people think initially when they see the blog header images? Each one has been pretty good, this time though it is pretty scary looking but awesome at the same time! Oh well, I think it’s funny.
Initially, in my Linux classes, it was all about using Java VirtualBox to load a VM. That was a lot of fun playing with a computer within a computer. My security class took it a step further and created networks in Cicso’s school website and simulated hacks within itself. At first it was all so complicated but grasping the concept was attainable. Set a ping on this machine, run a scan on that machine, have another machine doing normal tasks but then you would input a command and viola, a hack was completed. Learning and using security tools and suites to complete the task was also interesting because it wasn’t just using one piece of software at a time but numerous at one time. Kali Linux, Nmap, Wireshark, Backtrack and the website Distrowatch were all taught to us in being great for out “Administrators Toolbox”.
While this isn’t my area, it was interesting to learn to know what to protect against and how it is done. Turns out security is a big deal when administrating a network and setting one up. How can you setup a good and secure network if you aren’t aware of how these things work. This is another reason why a high education is important and should be sought out by Administrators or other IT professionals as it helps open the mind to unlimited possibilities of “how it all works”.
